Autumn Meets Spring!

Fiona Scott, United Kingdom

Background Information

The pine cone came first, spotted on a garden visit-I loved the form. The tool box part gave me difficulties until I spotted the springs. I thought about how they looked like the coiled stem on the cyclamen plant (topped by seed heads). Some cyclamen appear in spring - a plan was developing. The fascinator idea progressed from there as I couldn't envisage jewellery from these components.

Technical Explanation

I have used bead embroidery, working with shibori, beads and wool. Components have been made using peyote stitch and netting in the main although some fringing and cubic RAW has crept in.
