2 chatons #1088 8 mm crystal rose patina
2 ear wires antique bronze
  PowerPro (or Fireline) 0.13 mm crystal

1 scissors or thread burner

    Cut and thread a needle with 1 m (3.3 ft) of line. Pick up 3 cb and 1 sb 11 five times. Close the circle through the first cb. Leave 80 cm (2.6 ft) of line hanging.

    Pick up 1 cb, skip 1 cb and go through the next cb. Pick up 1 cb, skip 1 sb11 and go through the following cb. Repeat this step all the way around (peyote). Step up through the first cb picked up in this step.

    In peyote, thread 1 sb15 into each gap all the way around. Repeat thread path. Secure the thread, knot and trim.

    Take the other end of the thread. Place the chaton with the pretty side facing the sb15. For the reverse side, thread 1 cb in peyote all the way around. Step up through the first cb. Tighten the thread.

    Thread 1 sb15 in peyote all the way around. Pull the thread tight so that the setting lies tightly on the chaton. Go forward to an sb11 of step 1.

    The graphic shows the closed setting from the front. Pick up 1 sd and thread through the next cb of this round. Pick up 1 sd and thread through the next sb11 of this round. Repeat this step all the way around; the sd lie on the outer edge of the chaton setting. Go forward through the second hole of the sd picked up first.

    Pick up 1 rb and go through the second hole of the next sd. Pick up 1 sd and go through the second hole of the following sd. Repeat this step all the way around. Go forward through the second hole of the next newly added sd.

    Pick up 2 sb15 and 1 sb11 and go through the next rb. Pick up 1 sb11 and 2 sb15 and go through the second hole of the following sd. Pick up 1 cb, 1 sb11 and 1 cb and again thread through the same hole of the sd. Repeat this step all the way around.

    * Go through 2 sb15, 1 sb11, 1 rb, 1 sb11, 2 sb15, 1 cb, 1 sb11 and 1 cb. Repeat from * all the way around. Go forward through 2 sb15, 1 sb11, 1 rb, the second hole of the adjoining sd and return through its first hole.

    Pick up 2 sb11 and go through the first hole of the following sd; the sb11 lie over an rb. Pick up 1 sb11 and go through the first hole of the next sd; the sb11 lies over an sd of step 7. Repeat this step all the way around.

    Go forward to an sb11 between 2 cp of step 8. Pick up 5 sb15 and the loop of an ear wire. Close the circle through the sb11 you came out of. Thread this round several times. Secure the thread, knot and trim. Make a second earring in this manner.
